Mojo Mini's - Redistricting Edition

Click here for the latest county redistricting plans.  There's even a plan created by someone named Michael Baden.

*  It's nitty gritty time for the Reapportionment Commission and partisan politics is popping to the surface.  This increases the likelihood of a press-grabbing Mighty Hein veto.  After all, Hein went to all that expense and effort to make his "No Gerrymandering" sign.

*  Despite Democratic Commission members harping about minority representation, such a district was broken up to accommodate Peter Loughran & Dave Donaldson.

*  Incredibly, bigot Frank Fellicello & "The Brain" Rich Gerentine were given separate districts despite living in the same small town.  Fellicello is now paired with Republican Mary Beth Maio, who is expected not to seek re-election.  Fellicello & Gerentine famously screwed their fellow Republicans in the last redistricting.  There is no justice in the world!

*  Republicans Bob Aiello & Walter Frey will likely face-off in a primary due to a recent boundary change.  Frey has little chance to win, as the district is in Aiello's backyard.

The question remains:  will there be 22 happy Legislators to overide the expected Hein veto?

  1. I do not get what is happening to the democratic party of Ulster County. We are supporting a man whom is not a democrat for Ulster County Executive. He is a republican and has been for years until he saw the wind blowing his way and the county politics going with the wind then he joined us democrats. I wish someone would run against him as a democrat and primary him or win at the caucas that we are going to have in a month or two. That way he can just run as an Independence Party Canidate. The Ulster County Republican party would never endorse him as their canidate since he is a backstabber and turn coat to them. He may get the conservative endorsement but they would be crazy to endorose this fool. That is why a cry out the the Ulster County Democratic Party get someone else to represent our party. One whom is on the same page as us. Ms. Zimmet why dont you run. You are a better canidate that share our democratic values than Mr. Hein. You can send Mr. Hein back home to Hurley NY

  2. I hear that Zimet is seriously considering a run against Hein. Hein is vulnerable. He will not get the CSEA endorsement, Zimet will. She can beat him and I hope that she runs and beats the pants off of Hein like a honey badger devours his prey.

  3. Stop whining, start moving your ass. "I wish someone would run against him as a democrat and primary him..." doesn't cut it. Don't be lazy, gather the required number of signatures on your petition and force a primary... You never know!

  4. Zimet should primary him...at the very least to send a message to the Exec or maybe pull it out and beat him.

  5. Zimet almost beat Bonacic - she could beat Hein with her eyes closed and her hands tied behind her back.

Hein is a hack with zero Legislative experience, nor real world experience (except for the experience that he gained on the taxpayers dime), he is not even close to being in Zimet's league.

  6. No one in the Democratic party will support Zimet after she chickened out and blindsided supporters last time. She never told anyone she was backing out, she just announced it at party event leaving supporters and contributors holding the bag.

As for redistricting. It has been soiled with political influence from both sides and the commissioners, who will be praised to high heaven from the Legislature to Hein to the newspapers and everyone else have done a terrible job if the truth be told. They protected long term incumbents, made districts that don't give Dem's a chance in some and Rep's in others, they in short, blew it.

It is no wonder people despise politicians and politics in general, what a bunch of sleazy self protecting, sneaky, lying, underhanded assholes.

  7. This is where you see the true colors. You have the Bernardos turncoat just like I predicted they would. And just like Len did last year by putting up no one against Auerbach after the two of them cut a deal. Basically Hein and Auerbach are making him in to the power player he likes to believe he is.

The Democrats for all of their talk for the last couple of years are rolling over on the Hein issue. What happened to all of the talk within the party of not endorsing Hein. It apparently went no where just like their attempt to run the legislature.

The Republicans don't even know what county they are in half the time. Between trying to distance themselves from a stance or vote on any issue, and throwing out racist comments to waitresses these guys are useless.

Hein just keeps throwing out good sound bites and running his little dictatorship. Forget about follow through, this guy is a good replacement for Obama. Meanwhile no new jobs, unless they are created with money that Hinchey is funneling through not for profit consortiums to his friends and associates.

What a joke this county is. I think it is about time to try out one of these strategic defaults to get out of my house and this county. Because unless the state allows people to buy houses with food stamps, I would suspect walking away is the only way I will get rid of my house.

  8. MoJo

    I am Michael Baden.
And I made my plan on the public computer.
It has an under 5% population deviation between districts.
More importantly, I have no idea where any of the current Legislators live nor did I think about it in my plan.
It may not be perfect, but it certainly is fair.

  9. I believe Baden but the rest are just political hacks. If this is that screwed up at the county level, imagine what the state legislature will do with this style. Lets hope it goes to court and let a judge decide. You have Felicello and Gerentine in different district, Marlboro is a small town Felicello is a district by himself. look at saugerties Fabiano and Aiello differnt districts a nine iron could hit each house

  10. Breaking News! Osama Bin Laden is dead, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein takes credit!

  11. 8:51

Get your facts straight. The Democrat leadership asked Zimet to back out and get out of Hein's way.

  12. 6:42, Complete and utter bullshit. She bailed out and no one asked her to. Do not let her tell you anything else. She chickened out.

  13. The commission tonight approved version 8.
It may not be what I would have done, but I think they created a fair and accountable version. I'll let those more political than me figure out who is in and who is out and who is now running against who.
For those who shout gerrymandering I'll propose this question. Couldn't drawing lines in any manner be considered gerrymandering? Every change would cause some reaction.

  14. This is hilarious. Our city is going down the tubes, and the legislators are busy doing what they do best---NOTHING! They argue and bicker among themselves while "Rome" is burning around them, and yet they do not notice.

Felicello, Wadnola, Zimet, Madsen, Rodriguez, Provenzano, Donaldson...the list goes on and on...a bunch of simple-minded, self-centered losers who only care about themselves. No wonder why Kingston and much of Ulster is the way it is nowadays.

Thanks ladies and gents! You've done us proud! Do us a favor and join Sottile, Keller, and Gretzinger and move on.

  15. For my celebration of Mr. Heins and his Dr. H Healthy Ulster County week. Iwill eat all the fat foods I want and sit and watch television as much as possible. Also I will let my teenage children tan at salon if they want too. Its just another week of Hens communist propaganda to intrude in on our lives. Democratic Party get lost. Go play in the strret as they use to say.

  16. First, those calls for Zimet to run have to a joke. She is hated by half of the Democratic party and all the Republicans. She got her doors blown off by Bonacic (look at the numbers) and dropped out of executive last time on her own because she would of gotten her doors blown off again. It is a nice thought that the "Dem leadership" asked her to step aside, but we all know there isn't any.
Second, I don't see this districting as giving a pass for Loughran or Donaldson. They are going to have primary opponents and neither has run a real election in years. For example, Donaldson's new district is mostly Madsen's old district. Madsen knows all those people. Madsen is running for a seat and will run hard as he has proven previously (just ask Dart). You think Donaldson is going to beat the pavement to introduce himself to everyone in the district he doesn't know. I don't see that happening. It may be the end of him. No one did him any favors.

  17. Hein is elitist and clueless. His constituents are fighting for their lives--to pay the rent, put food on the table, pay for medicine and health insurance. Just the basics. His goal of making Ulster the healthiest county in the state sounds good but has no basis in reality--other than trying to get him re-elected.

When you make $140k you don't have to worry about the price of gas.

  18. Breaking News about Healthy Ulster County week. Mr. AUERBACH TAKE NOTE. I am a taxpayer why did MR. HEINS DEPT SPEND $6000 dollars internally of budget money for color print job of 3000 copies instead of about $1000 in black and white for the same print job. Color print jobs damage the environment more according to Mr. Heins staff. So does wasting paper on one side.

  19. 11:32, why would you bother to ask the "peoples lap dog" anything.? The answer is obvious, there must have been a picture of Hein involved, and he looks must too sinister ( realisitic) in black and white. Plus you cant get the contrast between his pearly white teeth and his tanning booth skin. But seriously, its all part of the taxpayer first initiative. Thanks for asking.

  20. Everything that the county executive hands out to the press is printed in full color. I don't have the money to go to Staples to pay for full color copying for my own business - yet this yahoo Hein prints everything to promote himself in full color.

  21. It's all over. Hein has no opponent, Yess has declared she is focusing on the Legislature. Don't look for Hein anywhere near a Democratic candidate this summer. Maybe Provenzano and Frey.

  23. Hein sucks he and his rebublican friends do also, He is making them money and vice versa. What a scubag party the Ulster County Republican Party support this creep by not putting a canidate against Mr. Hein. Hey to all you folks who like to pig and eat alot of fat products. I hope there are alot of hot dog venders and all the restraunts offer fat offers tomorrow. I here Mr. Auerbach wants to have a walk thru uptown tomorrow at 12pm or so. I want to see all you Mc donalds, Burger King folks counter protesting thease liberal destroyers of business. Mr. Hein and Auerbach all they want to do is to take Ulster County Left of politics to the fullist. I wonder did Mr. Hein and Auerbach found out that they are doing an anti business campaign to the uptown business district. Great Job Guys I be all the restraunts thank you for their loss of business tomorrow.

  24. 11:36 AM...your Right!.Loughran and Donaldson need to retire..

  25. you are right 5:35 but now wait and see what happens when all of the people that are addicted to government money find out. It is going to be a tough withdrawl. People that have never worked for a living trying to figure out how to eat, dangerous parolees roaming the streets after being kicked out of the state prison system because they are "reformed", and politicians with no jobs to give their friends. Mass chaos I tell you. I suggest you invest in canned food and shotgun shells.

  26. Come on MOJO..... Hein is now setting county policy by contracting out Mental Health Services. Please explain to me the difference between privatizing Mental Health and Golden Hill?
Why is the Legislature responsible for GH and the Executives office for MH?
We all know that answer... PLEASE MAKE A POST ABOUT THIS!

  27. This will be the future Of Ulster County Goverment. No more employee's. Just Mr. Hein and his flunkey staff of Lawyers Administration Contracts that run Ulster County Services. It will be cheap to do at first but watch out when it comes back to renegotiate those departments that you Mr. Hein vend out. It will come back to bite you in the ass. Costs will rises. It will cost you even more than if you had kept those county departments. Plus you can be pround that everyday you wake up and look into the mirror you can say I have created a whole new bunch of lowpaying non-benifitted jobs in Ulster County. I am amazed to the Democratic Liberals in Ulster County like me. Why dont we get rid of this man he is destroying Ulster County. We need to run someone else against him and send him on his way. Do you think a vended out Mental Health Dept is going to help those clients that need thease services. I guess the Ulster County Democratic Party supported George Bush and Ronald Reagan. If not it sure does look like it. It is not too late we can make sure he does not get nominated by our party as Ulster County Executive. We still have a month to get this man off our parites ballot for November.

  28. I am glad to read that Mr. Hein is getting use of those copiers/printers that he had installed in his 6th floor offices. With his own propaganda mill on the sixth floor he can spew out his nonsense rederick all the time.

  29. Legislature reportedly trying to privatize Hein's ego. Good luck!

  30. I am glad the County Executives office is finally getting use of those copiers they bought and installed on the sixth floor. But I do not like the costs involved for their non-sense jobs for what I have seen posted on here.

  31. I saw the video of Mr. Auerbachs walk on another blog on this site. I am glad no other Ulster County Employee's showed up it was just his dept mainly I guess with Mr. K . Up town needs all the business they can get. They did not need Mr. Auerbach promoting less bussiness for the Doughnut Shop, other ethinic fast food restraunts and Hot dog sales in uptown kingston. After all I be most those people whom walked with him ate lunch on the Ulster County dime before the walk.
