Mojo Mini's
* Kudo's to Highland Republican Legislator Mary Beth Maio, who stood up to Frank Fellicello's bullying to announce she will be seeking re-election. Fellicello, who now shares a legislative district with Maio, urged her to bow out for "the good of the party." HA!!! The best thing for the Republican Party would be for Fellicello to exit the public stage, pronto!
* The Legislature is considering adopting a new "flow control" law to erase the county's annual multi-million subsidy to the UC Resource Recovery Agency by 2013. While some may argue that property tax savings will be offset by increased garbage disposal costs, it appears that this is the only reasonable action to take. Sometimes, you just have to play the cards you're dealt.
* Legislature Republicans are seething that a member of their ranks had advance knowledge of the Mighty Heiny's plan to privatize county mental health services and did not share the information with colleagues.
* Wow! Hugh "Denim Depends" Reynolds suggested in a recent article that the Mighty Heiny may be "crying wolf" by again announcing the county is facing a large deficit (this time, $20 million) only to later pull off some "budget wizardry" and produce a budget with a minimal tax increase.
* With a great lack of fanfare, the Mighty Hein, naturally through flunky Queen Bea Havranek, announced the county would not be pursuing a lawsuit against the NYC DEP over turbid water releases in the Esopus Creek. Havranek said the DEP seemed to be sincere about stopping the releases. Hein no doubt received pressure from his high-powered political friends to drop the lawsuit. Talk about coming in like a lion and out like a lamb.

Go girl Mary Beth kick his a@# he deserved it years ago. Watch he will try to get Gerentine tto buy it off. Lets remember frank and run don't go in the same sentence
ReplyDeleteMr. Mojo, what's that in the photo with the three half-naked Japanese? It appears in most of the pictures on your blog. I think it's Cher's daughter, but my friends keep contradicting me. They think is a sooterkin.
ReplyDeleteI beg to disagree on the RRA "flow control law" issue. Eliminating competition in order to compensate for the inefficiencies of the RRA is not the solution. The RRA was created with the intent of having a county landfill created. When a countywide landfill did not materialize, the RRA was created with a competitive disadvantage. Eliminating competition by not allowing haulers to bring waste outside of the county will enable the RRA to charge whatever it desires to cover costs by creating a true monopoly. These costs will be passed onto the haulers and towns which must send their waste to the RRA. Towns will be forced to raise fees or increase taxes to compensate for higher costs. This will in turn cause more illegal dumping which is already a problem. Just look at the bags of garbage strewn all over. The poor economic climate has certainly exacerbated the situation. Raise prices and see how much worse it will get. Costs are not being eliminated, they are just being transferred. The simple solution is that government should get the hell out of the garbage business. More laws and government controls will only make things worse. Privatize and let market forces work to create efficiences. The RRA should not have been created without a countywide landfill and passing this law which has dubious constitutionality is not the solution.
ReplyDeleteSkip the old landfill solution and move ahead to recycling mandates, composting, and a new garbage to electric plant already. If the garbage problem was turned on its head, there'd be no illegal dumping. Look at how fast all the countryside has been stripped of scrap metal. A new resource is staring us in the face and people are still debating how and where to bury it. Here's another good one; warehousing seniors in a place close by that has inherently high costs is silly. Send them somewhere warm to enjoy themselves at the expense of the locations that need population growth. A lot of middle east countries would be glad to have their limited funds spent there. We could call it a senior colonization program. They caused all this turmoil there in the first place. Let them sleep in it.

ReplyDeletePlease run, not walk, to Ulster County Mental Health before Hein closes it. You need help.
News Flash Ulster County no longer a County Of New York State. Hein Vended it out to the Country Of Cuba.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with Carl, the county with total control will only raise rates and cause dumping. The towns have good centers and they should be able to contract out to the lowest cost vendor. Recycling and reuse of wast should be the goal. The project at the IBM location was rejected some time ago and now there may be a site in Orange county which would be able to process garbage to energy.
ReplyDeleteHey Mojo! Have you read Blaber's recent blog? He says NOT to vote for the budget because of the planned layoffs of 11 teachers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a loser. He does not pay property taxes, has a history of NOT paying his bills, and does not have two nickels to rub together, but he seems to think our streets our paved with gold and the taxpayers have unlimited funds.
This man-child needs to wake up to reality and get a real job. Oh wait, he does have a real job with WFP and is just waiting to cash-in on Hein's "friends and family plan".
I'm sure Hein will appoint him Deputy County Executive in charge of blogs as soon as he makes a nice cash contribution to Hein's campaign fund.
Oh wait, he doesn't have two nickels to rub together. Sorry Blabs! You'll just have to stay at WFP! LOL!
Yea 10:47, there are a lot of people that don't pay taxes in this County, and a lot of people that need to get a job. Maybe you should look in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteSorry 3:21, I have a great job and have been a taxpayer for 20 years.
ReplyDeleteSounds like I struck a nerve. The truth hurts, doesn't it? Blaber is a HYPOCRIT. He should get his $hit in order and wake up to reality before preaching.
I speak the truth about the shenanegans with the budget adn with Blaber. Maybe it is you who should look in the mirror and STFU.
Yet the kid has more access than you. Why else would you be so mad and care so much. Also if you dislike him so much why read his website? I was not always a fan of Blaber nor am I really now but he has a way wth people. JB is not all that bad a guy. I'm just sayin'
ReplyDeleteHere's what makes me mad...
ReplyDeletePeople telling me to look in the mirror about paying taxes when I have done so for the past 20 years.
Rampant corruption, fraud, waste, and abuse in Ulster County where taxpayers are always taking it on the chin due to the recklessness, inattention, and self-serving attitudes of our politicians.
Watching an ignorant pompous ass like Blaber continually spew forth dogma and political "sweet nothings". He does not hold a real job, own property, pay taxes, nor does he pay his bills.
He talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk.
I laugh my ass off at Jeremy saying, "Vote Yes on the budget, it's for the kids." and this year saying "Vote no, don't allow any teacher layoffs."
He is pandering to the teachers for popularity. If he had to pay taxes, understood the taxpayers dilemma, and actually lived here, he might have some clout.
What he is doing is struggling to gain a foot in the door of Ulster County politics for his cush job. He is only looking out himself (number one). To do so, he will cater to anyone and everyone to achieve his Machiavellian goal.
If you had 1/10 of a brain, you could see this like the majority of us taxpayers do.
I'm waiting for someone other than the good ol' boy network to come to Ulster and clean house. This rampant abuse of taxpayer money has to stop.
He is an idiot. I love his site to get the dirt and gossip from around town. But if you even give a candidate a second of thought because of his endorsement you are a moron. I specifically did not vote for one of the school board candidates this time because of his endorsement. What does he even know about running a school district, he has never worked or paid taxes a day in his life. Working for the WFP does not experience make, even my liberal union wants nothing to do with those people.
ReplyDeleteFace it, this guy is good at getting out to some dinners to dig up some dirt and selling his opinions to the highest bidder. He is a hack. And a dumb one at that.
if you have reservations about flow control, you better get organized.they are going to force it through. word around the rra is that parete senior is giving them fits about flow control. if he goes after them like he did the jail project, all hell could break loose.
ReplyDeleteThe saddest part about the whole deal is that he has done the dirty work for Auerbach, Woerner, Hein, and now Bernardo and all of them have yet to give him any payback. The only guy that has ever helped him out (other than giving him too many free dinners) is Quigley. Why?? I have no idea considering the nasty things that he did to him during the comptroller race.
ReplyDeleteReal sad about JB. The kid don't realize that things are done directly out of political expediency and that includes promises for positions. These pols don't take him seriously. How can they trust him when he tosses accolades at them one minute then turns on them a short time down the road? He is of no value to any of them except being a doormat to be used and laughed at.
ReplyDeleteFOR SALE: A Victorian Era Office Building In The City Of Kingston. Has National Registry Status. Present Owner Needs to get move out and rent office space from key friends. This Building can be yours at a good price. Please Contact Mike Hien Ulster County Executive Sixth Floor 244 Fair St. Kingston, NY
ReplyDelete7:47 am your post sounds like an Ulster County Office Building on Flatbush Ave. I did not think Ulster County was selling the whole building. Maybe Mr. Hein wants to sell it to buddy or turn it to a welfare hotel .
ReplyDeleteMojo, The only reason Havernak dropped the lawsuit is that she doesn't know how to proceed with one in the first place. Everytime The County Attorney goes to court, she has to hire outside counsel & the County can't afford to pay 2 salaries to do the same job. Talk about double dipping!
ReplyDeletep.s. Eric, why don't you actually run this comment this time. thx.
Gee, I heart that, in fact, the county was palling to divest itself of the entire Flatbush Ave. property.
ReplyDeletePublic Heath into Mental Health -- after all, they are merging. Matter of fact, once Hein has established that "Ulster County is the Healthiest County in The State," (what a joke that is), who's going to need a Health Department at all. Environmental Sanitation Division -- a very large number of the counties in the state do not even have an Environmental Sanitation Division -- the State Health Department picks up the work load,,,,,,
Veterans into the BRC -- not really a big effort to do that.
Human Rights -- what a joke! Move it into a telephone booth somewhere.....As it is set up, it's a pretty useless office......
Maybe consolidate with the city of Kingston Human Rights office, and actually save some money.
Purchasing -- where is it nowadays? There's sure to be room somewhere else.
Am I forgetting any department currently housed at Flatbush Ave.?
Mr. Hein only cares about himself. That is why he is doing this stuff. But I bet if someone gets the Miroscope out and looks at Mr. Hein and his doings I bet they could find some un-ethical things being do to help promote his re-election.
ReplyDeleteToo much concern for and attention to Blaber. Anyone who thinks he has any access is out of their mind. No one trusts the kid, and that is what he is a kid. He is like a nat that just keeps flying around the elected officials heads until they have talk to him, but no one actually would trust the guy to do anything or do anything for him. There is no payback for what little help he gives because he is not really capable of doing anything and everyone knows it. I realize there are "do nothing" jobs in local government and I am telling you he is not capable of even doing those. That is why he hasn't gotten one. And the bottom line now is he hurts candidates more than helps them because people know what he is about. Ask Shane Gallo how many people have already told him to distance himself from Blaber, or they couldn't support him. I was one of many. The kid will eventually fade away. His blog is already irrelevant
